    We have an outstanding opportunity to join the PowerNet team in the exciting and rewarding role of System Controller based out of our Invercargill Office in Racecourse Road.

    As a System Controller you will play a critical role here at PowerNet and will be responsible for ensuring the network is operated effectively and reliably to ensure our employee’s, contractors and public safety in maintained at all times. Our System Control room is manned 24/7 so you will participate in a rotating shift roster.

    Experience/Knowledge and Skills:

    Operating our system control operations using SCADA, permit management and ensuring quality of supply
    Accurate recording of operating data
    Managing faults response, planned and unplanned network outages
    Carrying out and directing switching operations on the network
    Minimum of NZ certificate in Electricity Supply Level 3 – Field Switching or equivalent
    Attainment of or studying towards the NZ Certificate or Diploma in Electricity Supply Network Operator
    At least 7 years’ experience in the Electricity Supply industry
    Solid communication skills with strong English skills
    Analytical and methodical
    Be able to work under pressure and stay calm
    Be adaptable to a changing environment where no two days are the same
    Be able to work days and nights in a 24 hour, 7 days a week operation
    Our Candidate:

    Ideally you are in a System Control room within the electricity industry here in New Zealand but if you have had experience within a control room from within an industry sector background we would love to hear from you.

    The successful candidate will be a highly motivated individual who has a pragmatic, flexible and adaptable approach. They will be a unified team member who has a high attention to detail with solid communication skills. You will be someone who is up front and honest and really wants to make a difference within a company who encourages growth and development and a can do attitude of "Do it once, do it right”.
