  • Details : PowerNet is an electrical distribution business, which designs, builds, maintains and operates electricity networks across much of the lower South Island of New Zealand. We are the 4th largest electricity network in New Zealand, with around 280 employees and delivering power to over 70, 000 consumers.

    We are rapidly growing in the Queenstown Lakes area as we make major, long-term investments in the region developing our own, modern, fully underground network.

    PowerNet also contract to a range of external clients ranging from ski fields to large industry, wind and hydro generation companies. Our joint ventures and shareholdings across the electricity sector present opportunities to work on exciting projects across all of New Zealand and our Queenstown team are a key part of this.

    We are building a highly capable team of field personnel based out of our Queenstown Depot that can deliver world-class services not only to our own electricity network in the region, but also to our external clients around New Zealand.

    We currently have a full-time, permanent position available for a Team Leader of one of our field teams, so if you are passionate about excellence and have some or all of the skills and experience listed below, we would love to hear from you!

    Skills and Experience

    Understands that leading a team is about enabling all of your team to deliver above expectations in all aspects, from safety to quality and reliability
    Supervisory or Team Leader experience, with the ability to lead and inspire a team, to get the best out of every person
    Electricity network construction, operation or maintenance experience
    High voltage network technician or substation maintenance experience
    High voltage cable jointing experience/qualification
    Best practice high voltage switching experience
    Ability to identify strengths and deficits in your team’s skills and experience and work through Supervisor to ensure appropriate supervision, training and upskilling
    Ability to understand a scope of work and execute to given time and quality standards
    Motivated to bring your teams solutions to the table and willing to follow improvement ideas through to completion
    Organised and thorough in all aspects and only considers the job is complete once every element from execution right through to documentation is finalised
    Demonstrated excellence in completion of all work to the highest standard, from planning to execution and quality assurance documentation
